Raipur, 9 September 2022 / With the inauguration of two new districts by Chief Minister Mr.Bhupesh Baghel today on 9 September, the total number of districts in Chhattisgarh has gone up to 33. Mr. Baghel inaugurated Manendragarh-Chirmiri-Bharatpur and Sakti districts today. During the last four and a half years, 06 new districts, 85 new tehsils, several sub-divisions and sub-tehsils have been formed in the state.
After the formation of the current state government, Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel had promised simplification of administrative work and procedures following the policy of ‘Sahaj Prashasan,sahaj jeevan’. Under this, he had promised to fulfill the demands of various districts and the formation of new ones that were pending for years. On 10 February 2020, he initiated fulfilling this promise with the formation of Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi district. After this, on 15 August 2021, he had announced the formation of 5 more new districts. On September 02, he inaugurated the first of these Mohla-Manpur-Ambagarh Chowki district. On the second day, on 03rd September, new districts of Sarangarh-Bilaigarh and Khairagarh-Chhuikhadan-Gandai were formed and the number of districts reached 31. Within a week, today on September 09, he also fulfilled the promise of formation of Manendragarh-Chirmiri-Bharatpur and Sakti districts.
During the formation of new districts, the local populace expressed great enthusiasm and said that the Chief Minister has made our years old dreams come true. Now our area will also undergo development at a rapid pace. Business and employment opportunities will also increase with the formation of new districts. People’s access to the administration will also become easier, due to which the benefits of the government schemes will also be made available expeditiously. Mr. Baghel said that now people will not have to go far for government work, as all district government offices are nearby, work will be done locally in a smooth manner. This will save citizens time and money. Local places of tourist importance will also get a new identity and tourism industry will flourish.
During the inauguration of the districts, the local citizens gave a grand welcome to the Chief Minister and expressed their gratitude towards him. During this, the citizens expressed their happiness by weighing the Chief Minister with fruits, nuts, sweets, Chhattisgarhi delicacies and minor forest produce
