“Our primitive traditions are alive in our culture, Chhattisgarh being a tribal state is rich in its cultural heritage. Bastar Dussehra is one of the best parts of this tradition which is not only famous in Bastar but all over the world. All sections of the society along with tribal people have been celebrating Bastar Dussehra with full faith and reverence. I feel fortunate and privileged to be present in the historic Muria Darbar of the Bastar Dussehra festival for the last 4 years. We are making development policies and plans for Bastar in a meeting held with Manjhi-Chalki, Mukhiya, ‘Member-Membarin’ and members of Muria Durbar. These meeting helps us to give a new direction to the overall development of Bastar.”, said Chief Minister while addressing the people in the Muria Darbar during his one-day stay in Bastar.
Chief Minister Mr. Baghel said that the announcements made in Muria Darbar in the last years have been fulfilled. On the demand of the President of Bastar Dussehra Committee, he announced to provide Rs.5 lakh for the dress of Manjhi-Chalki, ‘Member-Membarin’ and authoritative members of Bastar Dussehra festival. Meanwhile, announcements have also been made to rename Government College Tokapal after Shaheed Harchand and Government College Bakawand after Jarkaran Bhatra.
The Chief Minister said that the State Government has taken numerous steps in the last years for the interests of all sections of society. Similarly, various public welfare schemes including Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana, Rajiv Gandhi Gramin Bhumiheen Krishi Mazdoor Nyay Yojana, Godhan Nyay Yojana, Narva, Garua, Ghurva and Bari will help the general public as well as farmers, labourers and women to progress in the direction of development. With the state government’s initiative of the Rajiv Yuva Mitan Club scheme, youths are now playing a major role in the development of the state by joining the mainstream. Emphasizing on the establishment of forest-based and value-processing enterprises of agricultural produce, the Chief Minister said that the State Government is setting up rural industrial parks in each block, which will facilitate the production and marketing of the produce at the local level. At the same time, employment will be accessible to youth, women and local entrepreneurs as well. He further said that the tamarind processing factory is being started at Lohandiguda. Along with this, the country’s largest millet plant for processing Kodo-Kutki and Ragi is being set up in the Kanker district. Similarly, an ethanol plant based on maize processing is being set up in Kondagaon. C-marts have been set up in all the districts for marketing of local products in the state and now divisional C-marts have been started in Jagdalpur so that local products will reach the people of not only the country but the world. Chief Minister Shri Baghel said that the Chhattisgarh government has taken the important initiative to implement PESA Act. He also expressed his commitment to preserve and promote the ancient culture, including promoting the development of Devgudis and Aastha Kendras in the Bastar region. Along with this, he stressed on the protection of Ghotul as a social and cultural centre.
On this occasion, State Industries Minister and District In-charge Minister Shri Kawasi Lakhma talked about the efforts being made by the State Government for the development of the Bastar region. On the other hand, MP Bastar and President of Bastar Dussehra Committee Shri Deepak Baij expressed his gratitude to the Chief Minister of the state for participating in Bastar Dussehra festival and apprised him about the demand of Manjhi-Chalki and traditional members of Bastar Dussehra festival. In the beginning, the Vice President of Bastar Dussehra Committee Shri Balram Manjhi and Collector Shri Chandan Kumar apprised about the successful operation of Bastar Dussehra festival in their welcome address. Manjhi Chaliki and authoritative members of the Bastar Dussehra Committee presented memento to the Chief Minister in the program. On this occasion Mati Pujari Shri Kamalchand Bhanjdev, President Bastar Area Tribal Development Authority Shri Lakheshwar Baghel, Vice President of Bastar Vikas Pradhikaran,Shri Santram Netam, Shri Vikram Mandavi, Parliamentary Secretary Shri Rekhchand Jain, Chairman Chhattisgarh Handicrafts Development Board Shri Chandan Kashyap, Vice President Bastar Area Tribal Development Authority Shri Vikram Mandavi, MLA Kondagaon Shri Mohan Markam, MLA Chitrakot Shri Rajman Benzam, Chairman Fishermen Welfare Board Shri MR Nishad, Chairman Chhattisgarh Renewable Energy Development Agency Shri Mithilesh Swarnakar, Mayor Smt. Safira Sahu, Chairman Municipal Corporation Smt. Kavita Sahu Including Commissioner Bastar Shri Shyam Dhawade, Inspector General of Police Shri Sundarraj P., Senior Superintendent of Police Shri Jitendra Meena and Manjhi, Chaliki, ‘Member-Membarin’ and officers of Dussehra Committee, public representatives of the area and a large number of dignitaries were present.
